Family, friends, staff, associates and neighbors joined in the celebration of former mayor Kelvyn Cullimore and former council member Tee Tyler, who were honored for their years of service during a special open house on Jan. 4 at City Hall.

The evening was highlighted by speeches, gifts and a special video presentation.

Tyler received a metal sculpture of a large mosquito and an autographed edition of “Wing Beats” magazine, having served for many years as the city’s representative for the local mosquito abatement district.

Cullimore received several gifts, including an assortment of University of Utah apparel from new mayor Mike Peterson (Cullimore being an avid BYU fan, and Peterson a devoted Ute). He was also presented with a lifetime pass to all Brighton High School events by BHS Principal Tom Sherwood and student council members.

Via city council resolution, the large meeting room where the celebration was held was also renamed the "Mayor Kelvyn H. Cullimore Jr. Community Room."
